Dit monument van koraal op de oostelijke flank van Bloody Nose Ridge herdenkt de mariniers van de 1st U.S. Marine Division die omgekomen zijn bij gevechten om de ridge. Pas na een maand van zware verliezen aan beide kanten was de Japanse weerstand gebroken en kon het Amerikaanse leger verder oprukken.
