Gedenkteken 47th Royal Marines Commando Dishoek

Aan de muur van de R.K. toeristenkerk te Dishoek (Gemeente Veere) is een plaquette bevestigd als herinnering aan de 34 mannen van 47 Royal Marines Commando, die zijn gesneuveld bij de verovering van batterij W 11 tussen Dishoek en Vlissingen.

Op de plaquette staat de volgende tekst:

Under the command of Lt. Col. Phillips D.S.O.
47 R.M. Commando made the assault landing
through the gap in the dyke at Westkapelle on
1 st. november 1944.
The commando liberated the South-West area
from Zoutelande to the gap and the Nolle dyke
and captured the batteries W 11 and W 4.
The casualties among the 400 commando's
were 34 killed and 82 wounded.
