In memory of George Mason Scholes Lance Corpl Durham Light Infantry who gave his life for his Country August 4 1916 and of Cyril Scholes Driver Royal Engineers who died at Fimber from sickness contracted in France February 18 1919

Sones of this place let this of you be said. That you who live are worthy of the dead. They gave their lives that you who live may reap a richer harvest ere you fall asleep.

These whose names are recorded also served their Country in the Great War.
