CLAYTONS near BRADFORD 1   Moved all vehicles to Recreation Ground for now. Visit from W.O. i/c Recreational P.T.
2 1000 Officer’s Conference regarding Training, M.T. and matters of unit organization and administration. To be held weekly.
3 1100 Unit officer selection board held for four candidates. One passed, two for further training, one failed.
3 1430 Maj. Arnold, Chief Instructor No 1 Mobn Centre R.A.S.C. visited the unit to arrange training programme and instructors. Pleased with standard and numbers in unit.
5   Unit training programme started (in No1 Mobn Centre) Great shortage of suitable training area or building.
6   O.C. visited ADOS (Mobn) West Riding District taking A.F.W.5198’s for D.F.G.1098. Action on Workshop deficiencies held up pending decisions on vehicles retained. The I.T.S., Mobn Centre visited unit for a short while. He expressed satisfaction with Technical side and made one or two unofficial suggestions.
7   1st Warning Order under A.C.I. 925 of 43 read out and agreed on Pay Parade.
10   About 2” snow on ground interrupted training programme somewhat, due to lack of inside accommodation.
11   Further snow Driving practice postponed.
12   Snow nearly all cleared. Training Proceeds.
13   4 officers and 145 men with Stem Gun on ranges. Officers fired .38 pistols. Very wet morning. Standard above average.
14   Due to great pressure of work in W/S personnel off unit training programme.
15   Two units with total of 24 lorries 10 m/c added to out maintenance commitments. W/S are far behind ?? our own expectations – let alone someone else!
17   Officers’ classes in PIAT & Sten, in officers mess 1800 hrs. began.
18   O.C. and two officers attended lectures and mock Court Martial staged by J.A.G. Northern Command at Huddersfield continued PIAT class for officers.
19   First Catch progress report of Mobn sent to Norco.
20   Fitness report sent to Mobn. Unit on ranges for Bren & Rifle 0900 hrs. Bad weather, wind & rain.
21   O.C, visited driving instruction and convoy control. Traffic Control and N.C.O.s on point duty were word features. Second unit warning order read and signed by all.
22   Unit on ranges – Grenades (36) under Mobn
24   Unit on rages Rifles and Bren 0900 hrs.
26   Mobilization date for this unit. Coded progress report and fitness report rendered to Mobn and Command.
27 1000 A 2 hour lecture on R/T was given to officers of unit by Instructors from Mobn Centre
