HOLLAND 1   Very quiet day.
1   During night of 1/2 one of our patrols engaged an enemy patrol; the patrol leader, Capt. Pinnington was wounded but the enemy suffered heavy cassualties, losing 2 killed, 1 wounded and 1 POW. On interrogation the prisoner gave us detailed information about the enemy dispositions, East of the River.
2   Only incident during the day occurred when 12 shells landed in 'D' Coy area but no damage was caused.
3   Bn HQ moved to new location at 897193 'A' Coy moved Coy HQ and 1 Pl to 896205.
4   No incident to report.
5   To-day 'B' and 'C' Coys changed over 'B' Coy establishing HQ at 907194 'C' Coy establishing HQ at 906203. Two civilians (1 Russiand and 1 Dutch) crossed the River Maas into our lines and were brought in for interrogation.
HOLLAND 6   A' Coy and 'D' Coy changed over; 'A' Coy HQ at 909222 and 'D' Coy at 896205. A good day for our snipers who claimed three kills.
7   A slight increase in shelling to-day, a few shells landing near Bn HQ.
8   Only incident during the day was another kill by our snipers
9   Nothing to report to-day. Heavy snow.
10   During the night 10/11 a German patrol was encountered and one enemy killed. We had three wounded.
11   Very quiet day.
12   The Bn received a visit by the Divisional Commander.
13   'B' and 'C' Coys changed over.
14   No incident to-day.
15   Recce of HORST area was carried out by 2 ICs of Coys.
16   Recce party from RUR visited Bn preparatory to taking over the area.
17   Bn relieved by RUR and moved into rest area at HORST.
HOLLAND 17   Here we had an operational role including the defence of HORST and a counter-attack role in support of 9 Br Inf Bde. O.O. No. 6
18-21   Spent in re-organisation and general cleaning up.
22   The Brigade Commander visited the Bn and spoke to W.Os and N.C.Os on the general war situation.
23   Recce of new area preparatory to moving into the line.
24   Recce party of 1 KOSB visited the Bn.
25   To-day we relieved 2 Warwicks and established Bn HQ at 872233 and Coys at 'A' 904230, 'B' 903243, 'C' 882230, 'D' 908220, 'S' 874232.
26   Visited by Div Comdr and Bde Comd who visited forward Coys.
27   Shelling and mortaring of fwd coys but no casualties.
28   Visited by Corps Comd. Lt. Pinchin commanding Pioneer Pl was wounded while neutralising A.P. mines.
HOLLAND 29   No incident to report.
30   Maj. L.H.B. Colvin MC assumed command of the Bn during absence on UK Leave of Lt.Col. C.L. Firbank D.S.O.
31   Heavy shelling of fwd Coys between 1400 hrs and 1600 hrs, otherwise nothing to report.
