COWPLAIN 1-26   Training contd throughout the month with special reference to pending operations : comments of Divisional Commander re exercise ‘Fabius’ viz “all were practically impressed with the enthusiasm and cheerfulness of the troops” were given point by the ever-increasing [..]scale in the batalion’s attitude to the “task ahead”.
1-26   Training included:
1-26   Comb. Ops exercise for the Bn H.Q. and C & D Coys – OS Sheet 132 : 9423.
LITTLEHAMPTON 1-26   Bn attendance at demonstration on beach clearance by 79 Sqn AVRE – OS Sheet 133 : 4319.
COWPLAIN 11-13   Lt Gen Sir DF Anderson KCB, CG, DSO, Colonel of the Regiment visited the battalion: “It was good of you to let us come when you were all so busy … I am quite certain that the Battalion will make the best use of its opportunities.”
13   General D.D. Eisenhower, Supreme Comd Allied Forces in Europe inspected selected officers and men: “I had heard so much about you all from General Montgomery; he certainly did not exaggerate anything he told me. It was good to see your Division looking so fit and in such good spirits.”
19   H.M. King inspected the Bn.
