BRIDLINGTON | 4 | Ex. Bridlington (see App “A”. The Regt. moved to a harbour area at OS 1” Sh 23 ref 5588 after halting until dark in a fwd assembly area. Moving out at first light on 5 Jan we passed thro a minefield gap, deploying shortly after and making contact with enemy A/Tk guns and inf. The day ended with an attack on the enemy position and the Regt returned to BRIDLINGTON that evening. | ||
7-8 | Ex Frederick Uncle III (see App “B”. The Regtl. “A” Ech, LAD, and a token A1 Ech took part in this exercise. We also provided umpires. | |||
12 | 11 Armd Div Inter Unit Knock Out Rugby Football Competition. The Regt. played 3 Mons at HULL and a close game left us the winners by 5 pts to 3, which gave us the Div championship. | |||
12 | Anti-Raid Measures. A new operation order was issued to cover action in the event of enemy raids. (see App “C”) | |||
24-29 | The Regt. vivisted KIRKOUDBRIGHT AFV Ranges, having 3 days shooting. (See App “D”). Each Sqn. had one day at GREETOWN range for long range AP shooting and two days for troop and sqn battle practices. Rain and bad visibility interfered with the programme on the first and last days but all the sqn runs were completed and C. Sqn. achieved the second highest score in 8 Corps. The Recce Tp fired on the classification ranges. | |||
24-29 | Officers. During the month 2/Lt. Bretherton and 2/Lt. Strode left to join 4 C.L.Y. Lt Giles went to Bde as L.O. 2/Lts. Darke (B. Sqn) and Gillespie (A Sqn) arrived and 2/Lt. Lovelock (B. Sqn) and 2/Lt. Brownlie (A. Sqn) were posted at the end of the month. | |||
