    Biografie

    John Joseph McDonnell ging als tiener bij de Lancashire Fusiliers. In februari1942 meldde hij zich vrijwillig voor de Airborne Forces. Na zijn training bij RAF Ringway, werd hij geplaatst bij 5th Platoon, B Company, 3rd Parachute Battalion. Na een aanstelling tot 2nd Lieutenant, nam hij afstand van deze rang op 19 januari 1949 en keerde terug in zijn voormalige rang.

    In juni 1952 werd hij bij de Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers aangesteld als Warrent Officer IInd Class. In 1954 werd hem nog de Long Service and Good Conduct Medal toegekend. Na een promotie tot Captain in 1957, ging hij in juni 1961 met pensioen.
